The 2025 cross country season has reached the spot in the race where teams are on the back half of the course and looking to head to the finish strong.
On Oct. 10, the San Bernardino Valley College men's team got a chance to see where they are in that field, as they took on some of the best teams in the state at the Southern California Preview race in San Diego.
The Wolverines finished fifth as a team, trailing behind other perennial favorites Mt. SAC, Cerritos, Riverside City, and San Diego Mesa. SBVC was sitting in second position as a team with a mile to go, but fell off the pace down the stretch.
Micah Watson was the first Wolverine to cross the line, taking 14th place with a time of 21 minutes, 7.7 seconds. Maximilano Resendis was the next to stop the clock at 21:33.3 for 28th place. Not far behind him was Zach Calderon, in 30th position, with a time of 21:35.3.
Samuel Chavarria was the fourth Wolverine to finish, posting a time of 21:48.6, with Adam Acuna rounding out the scoring five at 21:58.1.
The team will send members to the UC Riverside Invitational on Oct. 18 before heading to the Inland Empire Athletic Conference championships on Oct. 24.
