The San Bernardino Valley College baseball team took advantage of eight errors by the Victor Valley College defense, while pounding out 23 hits as the Wolverines beat up the Rams 23-4 Thursday afternoon.
The game was tied at 1 going into the bottom of the second, when the Wolverines broke the game open sending 13 batters to the plate and scoring nine times to take a 10-1 lead.
After Victor Valley got a run back in the fifth, the Wolverines again batted around in the sixth, sending 14 batters to the plate to score eight runs to cement the rout.
SBVC's starting pitcher Alan Gibbons got the win for the Wolverines, going five innings and striking out three. He retired the Rams in the first inning on seven pitches, and despite giving up seven hits, he only allowed the two runs. Four other Wolverines took the mound for an inning apiece, with Juan Oropeza striking out two and Jacob Van Noy striking out three.
At the plate, several Wolverines had big days. Sky Donaldson was 4-for-5 with two doubles and five runs batted in. Tyler Crawford was also 4-for-5 with a double, two triples, four runs scored, and four RBI. Jeremiah Acosta was 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Gama Martinez was also 2-for-4 with two RBI.
