Five members of the San Bernardino Valley College men's basketball team finished in double figures, as the Wolverines held off a second-half charge from visiting Cerro Coso College 72-62 Saturday afternoon.
The victory was the seventh in a row for SBVC.
SBVC was up by 15 at the break, having started the game on a 10-0 run. In the opening 20 minutes, the Wolverines made 54.8 percent from the field, while holding the Coyotes to 35 percent.
But Cerro Coso chipped away at the lead in the second half, eventually getting the deficit to four points with 1:25 remaining. But the Coyotes could get no closer.
Stanley Thomas III led the Wolverines with 15 points with Channing Shelton chipping in 14 points off the bench. Bryan Cabrera had 12 points, Jaden Riley had 11 and Duante Murphy added 10 with nine assists.
Cerro Coso's Lance Bailey Jr. led all scorers with 18 points.
