First Season - 2026

SBVC alum Michael Ramirez took over control of the women's cross country team for the 2026 season after returning as an assistant coach with the men's team in 2024. 

A graduate of Grand Terrace High School, Ramirez ran cross country and track at San Bernardino Valley from 2017-19, earning All-American honors in both sports. As a freshman at SBVC in 2018, he finished eighth in the 10,000 meters. In the fall of that year, as a sophomore, he finished 10th at the 3C2A State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno.

After finishing his career at SBVC, Ramirez transferred to Chico State, where he continued his running career with the Wildcats, where he was part of CCAA Championship teams in cross country and track at the Division 2 power. He graduated from Chico State with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a minor in psychology, as well as a master's degree in kinesiology (pedagogy). 

In two years as an assistant with the SBVC running teams, he has helped coach 12 All-Americans and a 3C2A State Champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. In 2025, he was awarded the 5CTCA Cross Country Men's Assistant Coach of the Year for his work with the SBVC team.

Outside of SBVC, Ramirez also coaches the distance runners at Pacific High School in San Bernardino, helping coach a Mountain Valley League champion in the 800 meters in his first season at the school.
