The San Bernardino Valley College women's cross country team posted an eighth place finish at the Clovis Crush Invitatonal at Woodward Park in Fresno on Sept. 6.
The field in the race was spread, with no one team dominating the final standings. SBVC finshed five points out of seventh, and eight points out of sixth. The Wolverines were sixth as a team at the 1- and 2-mile splits, but fell back to a tie for seventh as they turned for home.
Priscilla De Leon was the first SBVC runner to cross the line, finishing 26th in the field. She posted a time of 20 minutes, 40.8 seconds across the 5-kilometer course.
Callie Frias stopped the clock next, finishing 33rd with a time of 21:04.8. Ashley Reyna was the next Wolverine across the line, posting a time of 21:26.8. Sophomores Liliana Wilson (22:02.6) and Hazel Torres (22:13.1) rounded out the scoring five.
SBVC prepares now for the Golden West Invitational, set for Sept. 19 in Huntington Beach.
