Wolverines Pick Up First Home Victory of Season

The San Bernardino Valley College women's basketball team was able to put together a complete-game effort Wednesday night, and were rewarded with their first home victory of the season, defeating Barstow College 88-64 in an Inland Empire Athletic Conference game.

After opening a six-point lead after a quarter, the Wolverines picked up the pace to start the second, scoring the first six points of the period to double their lead. Midway through the quarter, SBVC went on an 8-0 run in the span of a minute to help on its way to a 47-29 lead after 20 minutes.

With the Vikings only dressing five players, the Wolverines picked up the pace in the second half. And when Leanne Domingo fouled out with 1:35 left in the third quarter, Barstow was forced to complete the game with only four players for the final 11:35.

Majesty Cade, in only her second game with the Wolverines this season, led the way with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Maryanne Palacios added 24 points and seven rebounds while Destiny Melendez had 19 points and seven assists.

Kamilyah Starr Williams led the way for Barstow with 20 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists.
